Stephanie Branscum, LCSW

Your mental health matters and I am so glad you are taking this moment to prioritize this important piece of self-care. I look forward to seeing how we can work together to meet your goals so that you can show up as the best version of yourself for your family, your friends, your coworkers, but most importantly for you.

Body-Based Wellbeing

I have spent the last 5 years working with individuals and communities all over the world helping them to learn skills to improve their wellbeing. Utilizing evidence based practices, I focus on the connection between the mind and the body, recognizing that there are common biological reactions to stress and trauma. When we can understand these biological reactions, we can learn skills to help manage them as they arise. Even for those who are not currently managing the effects of stress or trauma, learning skills of wellbeing can help us manage the everyday ups and downs of life so that we feel better prepared to meet challenges as they arise.

Trauma Reprocessing

With over a decade working in the trauma field, I understand the impact that unprocessed trauma can have on individuals mental and even physical wellbeing. Utilizing the Trauma Resiliency Model, I can help you process stressful or traumatic events in a way that honors your journey, creating a safe environment for “stuck” trauma to move through and out. Although processing trauma cognitively, or “talking it out,” can be incredibly beneficial, because of the way that our minds and body manage trauma, we know that somatic processing, or processing that brings in the body into the equation, can deepen your ability to see break throughs, even when managing thoughts and feelings is difficult or does not seem like enough.

Book Therapy

Yes, you read that right! Reading or listening to books engages the brain and creates a safe space where complex thoughts and feelings can be explored. Books serve as a form of exposure therapy where one can see their fears, grief, trauma, mental health, and other challenges fully examined and resolved without the risk of stigma, blame/shame, or physical harm. As a sex positive trauma therapist I especially lean into the romance genre and content with sexually mature undertones (aka smut) as a way for women to process sexual trauma, body insecurities, and relationship concerns while also learning to embrace and increase their sexuality, desire/arousal, and body confidence. Utilizing books that are connected to your goals along with evidence based skills for wellbeing and trauma reprocessing, I can help you become a more embodied reader, giving this past time a deeper meaning that can be beneficial for healing and increase wellbeing.
